I like it a lot. I've been through a ton of reverb pedals and this is my favorite so far. Only complaint is that it's a bit bright for my taste. I always have the tone knob completely counter clockwise.

Got the Space today and (inspired by the "cheap pedals for synths/drummachines"thread)
picked up the Metal Zone a couple of days ago.
I'm planning on modding it, but I like how it sounds in to my Distortron. :)

^ So what do you think about the distortron? I never tried a zvex dirt pedal I didnt like, and the distortron is one of the few I never got the chance to mess with. The miab thing kinda makes me wanna avoid it, just because that sales pitch is so meaningless and generic imo. Some of the online demos sound great, others sound meh, possibly cause of recording quality/amp/etc...The dozens of ´amp in a box' type pedals, a whopping zero actually sounded vaguely like the amp they were supposed to gimmick imo...:idk:

I really like it.
It is my "always on" on OD, set to crunch. If I hit the strings hard it overdrives a lot and if I play more soft it is almost clean.
It loves stacking and makes all other drives sound better.
I had a BoR a couple of years ago, but I always thought it was a little boomy/bass heavy and one thing I really like about the Distortron is the bass-switch.
It is really handy when I'm using guitars with different pickups/output.
I usually switch between my EGC Baritone TT2(with humbucker in the bridge) and a Puresalem Reverberation(with a singlecoil in the bridge),
so I have the bass-swith set to 2 on the EGC and to 3 with Puresalem. Evens things out.

But I see what you mean about it sounding "meh" on some demoes, because it can be a little picky of amps.
With my main amp, Traynor YBA-1 with 212 Greenbacks, it sounds awesome, but when if I have to use a AC30 I have to work harder to find the magic.
Usually works great with Fender-type amps. At home I usually don't use an amp, just ampsims, and it sounds a little dull through ampsims. Have to bring up the tone to get that great pushed amp chime.

I really should just pick one up and see how I like it. Your little review is NOT helping me tame my gas, I almost regret asking about it :p

My main amp: Traynor YBA-1 :) Through a 4x12 with a pair of G12H30's and a pair of Vintage 30's though.

My old Mrshall Guvnar isnt aweful for the sort of applications you use the distortron, but it needs a slitghyl dirty amp and a lot of volume. It doesnt have a ton of juicy saturated gain either, and maybe the distortron doesnt either :idk:
I hear what you say about the ac30 and the amps sims, both can be a bitch to allow a pedal to sing even though the sale pedal works great when its plugged into the Traynor :idk:

You should definitely try out then!
I think the Distortron is very underappreciated pedal. Too normal for the Z.Vex crowd and in the MIAB-category the DLS/OCD/Wamplers gets all the credit. So it should be able to score for one for a nice price second hand.

It does have a good amount of distortion available, but I prefer stacking/boosting when going high gain. Maybe not enough for your Slayer-tribute band, but enough for all things rock.
For the last two gigs with my rock band the Distortron was the only dirt on the board. ;)

Built myself a little bass pedalboard for use in my stoner rock band. Super excite

I need help picking out pedals though. I thought the HM-2 sounded pretty good as a fuzzy OD for bass, but I want a different fuzz and a different delay here. The tremolo and fuzz factory are not gonna be there later either. Anyone care to help? :)

For real.

For the fuzzy od thing though my current favourite is the Pharaoh! Actually unseated the tafm on my board for my last band.
