Real question, which drum machine?

To be determined. I want something that will allow me to do cool beat repeat stuff. I tried to run it through my friend's volca and it was cool, so we'll see. I would also love to get monotribe.

I love my Volca Beats to bits, but I haven't really sat down with anything else.

I had a Korg Electribe for awhile. Simple but fun as hell.

Monotribe is pretty rowdy but I'm not sure I would buy one for just the drum machine.

The sound is nice. Three analog drum sounds and the rest is a slimmed down MS-10. A very nice machine, although very limited as a drum machine. I wished it had MIDI input as standard or at least CV input instead of a SYNC jack only.

And I wish there was a way to separate the filter from the incoming sounds.

Isn't the monotribe pretty heavily mod-able?

That might be true, but I would rather purchase a product that's already awesome and doesn't need any mods.

It would just be as a noisemaker. The rhythm section would be a bonus.

I have an unused, plug-n-play MIDI kit for the Monotribe, if anyone is interested.

I am semi-with you. Depends. If it's like, oh, some idiot released an imcomplete product, charges a ton for it, and you have to mod it for it to be usable, that sucks.
If i get something really cool or really cheap and deem the mods easy enough or worth it and they only make a thing i like better, then fuck yeah dick yeah let's solder some shit.
At this point i want to start approaching drum machine purchases almost like how some people approach guitars. I want drum machines that i can hit play and let do their thing, but also ones i can perform on. I want ones that will offer wildly different possibilities.

Yeah, I was considering an mpc variant because of that, but I know best to nothing about them except for the iPad app I have...
Any recommendations on that regard?
