I had actually heard a bunch of people say that the Maude didn't cope well with dirts and fuzzes (please tell me if you disagree!) and that kinda might be the sticking point of me keeping a cheaper analog delay and another digital delay for one live effects chain, or jist one thing like the Maude. Or the In Limbo II.

I feel like combining delay and fuzz is better with digital ones, RV-3 being a prime example. But also the ehx cathedral. Out of analogue-y, darker delays I feel like the el cap works pretty well in front of some OD/fuzz

obviously everyone has their own preferences, but i love the way maude sounds with fuzz. its a really colored pedal to begin with, and i think it just sounds incredibly juicy all fuzzed up. the way highdeaf described the maude responding to fuzz is the sort of thing i would be totally into though  i'm also a huge fan of running different fx in the loops on delays.

i agree it is VERY annoying that you have to reset the internal setting on the maude :grumpy:

Don't get me wrong UG, I liked the meet Maude with some Distortion/gain sometimes (I thought it sounded nice and compressed and more sustain extending than other delays) but if I am going for traditional delay sounds with fuzz, Maude ain't what I am reaching for generally (I just borrowed the one I had).

I just kinda feel that the really nice character of it can be lost when doing to much around it. It shines on it's own, which is freaking great.

But, it is one of the few pedals I have ever played that encouraged me not to add gain. I really liked playing it clean which is pretty amazing actually. I still want one; it is one of the best times I have had with delay. DMK-100 and Limbo II are the others that I love. Every one of these has their limitations and shining uses...that's why you get them all.

I also feel that the old MN3005 AC powered delays sound better with fuzz than the boss DD series or the DOD digital delays I have used (but the newest digital delay I have used is the dd-6). All different stuff haha.

I think every delay needs an effects loop. It's like a crest your own pedal every time!

Never delay brushing your teeth. It is important! Typos!

Not in the post but I did gain the knowledge of "sounds" and "sounding" today via Urban Dictionary....and ILF. Learn something new everyday!*

Heck, UG you know I don't want traditional delay either generallyhaha...I think I go into each pedal thinking "how can I exploit this" like dd-5 tap tempo flanging or dd-20 patch sequencing.

Well, I played with it for quite a while. It wasn't horrible, but it just wasn't as good as Maude without the fuzz. It was wild, I'll give you that. Lots of crazy stuff that didn't necessarily relate to the dry signal much.

I can see where some guys would dig what was going on, but I typically play very cleanly...overdrive being on the higher gain side for me. Don't even know how much I'll use the four eyes, but the expression pedal on the frequency sweep sounds sooo funky and sweet. Certainly if I use delay with the four eyes, it will be the echolution pedal.

yeah maude is certainly a great pedal....i don't even mind that the dip switches are on the inside, i just wish it didn't have to be switched back :grumpy: minor complaint considering how well stocked it is in features, though. It's funny, but whenever I read that a pedal doesn't sound good or whatever, I always take that as special code that its going to be something I'm going to love..and it always turns out that way

If it comes down to a delay or ring mod....always pick the ring mod.
