Thanks to Chankgeez, I have discovered this fact haha.

Okay so maybe my drive quest leads here? Is the straight up DOD 250 ri the way to go or are there other options which are better? I guess this is one of those pedals I could try my hand at building maybe

You could definitely try building one. The RI is supposed to sound good. I like it better with the LED clipping though. The one DannDubbleEwe just built me is fantastic.

The RI sounds good...but I am still going to build a few and see what I can make...

There is the yngwie version too. Grey box...seems like fun to go in and see what you find.

Just kinda wondering what consensus is about it. Was there any chip changes made when they moved production to china? Oh well, might as well order some kind of kit and get my soldering on. Or I can have it built by someone who knows their shit and box it in something actually GAS-worthy

Okay you all posted really quickly. I might try the RI out locally before committing

Please do not get me GASsing for a DOD 250. My overdrive "tonequest" ended with the King of Tone v4. I do not need this poison in my brain.

If I wanted to hear a quintessential 250 tone on recording, what should I listen to? Bass preferred, guitar is cool too.

I traversed the snow and cold to retrieve these powerful spells up for $20 each.

I am feeling them.

That's a 'stock' 250, anyway. You can mod one or have a friend do it to the KWB specs to get that Kowloon clean toan, since that's based on the Distortion + and the two circuits are very similar.

I'm sure i'll invoke the wrath of the mojo gods but the $40 LED-less 250's sound about the same as the RI's to me. They may not be available for $40 anymore though.

I like the presence of the death metal pedal right here. Remember when I first heard of pedals in my youth. The death metal was the fuckin BOMB in my middle school class. Everyone wanted one. No one bought it bc we had to pay for our world of Warcraft accounts.

And that's the story how I can never say "this is a new low" anymore

 perfect

I've wanted one forever. It's so over the top. The EQ knobs are ridiculously powerful, I'm going to have to use this as a Make Disgusting insert.

I've got a KWB too and it's way closer to a Distortion+. A lot more gain than a 250.

It seems to be liked by harsh noise musicians too
