Megalith is more like a fuzzface + a boost then a muff.

True?
Interesting. Most people peg into the muff grouping, according to online goobery.
But that's what I get for obtaining all my info from online gooberts.

yeah fuzzfaces are pretty cool...i switch between muff and fuzzface a lot...

as for pizza debate...there's only two foods that i will debate about and really geek out on...Pizza and Burgers...these are the two foods i can easily live on...probably for a short time before my heart stops beating...but they are both the complete package as far as a meal goes for me.

t-rey wrote:So DoS was a real doombro and shipped me his Badascan and Supercollider to check out since I've been wanting to try some new muffs. Had a few minutes to riff on them and get some initial impressions. Hopefully I will have some time at a bit higher volume to record a comparison clip of them all. Surprisingly enough (to me at least) I prefer the Pharaoh to the Badascan - it seemed to have almost as much gain and was more open than the badascan. Palm mutes were definitely better on the badascan, but I tend to boost my Pharaoh anyhow, so that's kind of a moot point. Speaking of...what clipping is in what position? Seems like si/none/led from left to right, or are my ears broken?

The Supercollider blew my mind though - it's close to the Musket but can be just as big and mean without loosing too much definition or having too much harsh high end like the Musket set for similar toanz. Don't know how the 71 differs, but the OG Supercollider is definitely on the short list now. Really the only muffs I'm curious about now are the Hoof and Megalith, but either would be hard pressed to impress me more than the SC has.

Here's a badly taken pic because all the muffs:

I was wondering about the Badascan since I saw one pop up a few days ago.. Seemed pretty gnarly. I did Matt's Supercollider a lot, lots of mids, lots of sustain..lots of mids. And loud. I recall him having the volume around 9 o'clock.

I actually have the last week of October off so fuck yes. I hope you like tequila.

Dudes. Been a while. Trying to catch up on stuff.

Just bought a Boneshaker. Anyone played one yet? It'll have a hard time knocking the QM off my board, but who knows?

Also, I need to have someone (Nick maybe?) build me a lead/mid boost + delay + reverb in one unit. I could sell a kidney and fund it, right?
KHEMMIS. Doomed heavy metal. DECEIVER out 11/19/21 on Nuclear Blast.

GLACIAL TOMB. Misanthropic death/black/sludge. S/t debut out now on Gilead Media.

Good deals with: Ancient Astronaught, conky, crohny, D-Day, Corey Y, ryan summit, tons more here and on HCFX under this username

Seconded on thoughts on the OxVibe. The only vibe I've ever had was the EQD Depths, which had a kind of square wave thing about it that I never really liked.

Will do, duder. Not that they pop up that often, but I'm on the lookout to try one.

No shit - never knew that. I guess the Wino/Shrinebuilder association made people think muff because doom.

It's gnarly and giant for sure - I will be interested to see if my initial preference for the Pharaoh holds up under increased volume.

That Supercollider is the cat's pajamas. The way I had the tone and mass set, I ended up with the volume up around 3oclock for just over unity. Everything about the that tone was right.

Which brings me to my next point. I kind of need a green Supercollider (preferably big box) if anyone sees one that they aren't planning to snag, I'd appreciate a pm :animal:

I think this is correct.

The James Bond SC (#007) is so fucking rad, for sure.

I think the Megalith = Muff comes from the fact that it was birthed from the Amp On Fire, which is a Muff mod. Also, yeah, pretty much all of the one knob fuzzes (Meathead, Ritual etc.) are fuzz faces, and they're awesome.
good deals are here.

Glad my ears work re: the clipping.

I probably can't get a Supercollider now because that 007 mojo might be the key to it's toanz.

Forgot about the Amp on Fire thing, crazy how it went from a muff mod to more of a fuzz face thing. I've come to really like the heavy Fuzz Face thing after having a Dream Crusher for a bit - it was pretty gnarly, but nothing like the heavy that the Ritual brings. Done right, I think they can bring the doom as good as a muff (or even better in some instances).
