black winter / slug gets my amp melting vote.
:edit; but im not subtle AT ALL with tones so maybe wait for another voice of reason
Thanks, I do really dig this P90. I mean, I dig many P90's, they have been my favorite for a while. And really, all three of my guitars sound a bit different even though they all have them. So I might just leave it as is. Different enough to have variety, but close enough to use as backups without changing amp settings. So at this point, my options are finding a neck pickup that matches this P90, or still consider swapping humbuckers in there (and that would be mainly to have variety). Hold on, let me send some tequila shots your way
Other p90 recommendations? Actual soapbar and not HB sized, please and thanks.
I have one from Bareknuckle, it's really hot and loud. The other one is in a jazzmaster enclosure, made by The Pickup Wizard. It's noisy. Eh. And this humby sized one from BG, by far my favorite. He makes a soapbar sized one that's identicle.
Everyone has good things to say about BG. Seems like I need to get on that train.

Yeah, I didn't know what to expect since it's usually a bunch of TGP crap and praise, but I saw it on eBay for cheap and said fuck it. I had it in a Ric 480 for a while and it was cool but nothing crazy. And now it's in this RD and it sounds really good all of a sudden. And I play tuned down (well, C# standard) semi heavy shit. But really it seems to work well with anything. And it's NOT noisy at all, plus it handles any pedal I throw in front of it. So, yeah, I'd say it's a pretty good fucking pickup. Glad I didn't sell it.
I wanted to swap out the thin strings on my guitar and went to my only shitty local guitar shop, and they had a bunch of shitty sets of 9's and 10's and randomly had a strange brand set of 14-56 gauge for $4. I said fuck it, got them, and installed them, and holy perfect tension batman. I usually play 12-52 but I might have to keep getting these heavier ones. I'm not sure if the quality will be good and last long, but they sounded great and felt great. Should of gone this heavy long ago. This guitar keeps getting better and better with every new little part swap.

thats a cool find...i use DAddario 12-60's...but i really like a plane 3rd...is that set a wound 3rd or plan?
this guitar is shaping up to be quite epic man...i also had a look at those P90's, they seem pretty cool...by all descriptions and demo's they seem like they would be like my gibson set. and you say its low noise? I might have to try them out at some point.

The pack came with two G's, a plain and a wound. I used the wound. The string company is called Ducks Deluxe guitar strings. And yeah, I get no noise from my BG Pure 90. No feedback, not weird frequencies, no hum, it's pretty great. I play a good 6-10 feet away from my amps though. If that makes a difference.
Speaking of pickups. This was waiting on me when I got home from work a few minutes ago.
BLK TRI Torch. Can't wait to get it up and running. I guess I'll pull the Black Winter out of my LP Standard and give it a run. I got the Sentient in day before yesterday and put it in my PRS. I like it alot. Really nice and fat, not too muddy and takes high gain very well. As soon as I get the Nazgul it will go in the bridge.
EDIT:
Ended up putting it in the PRS cause I still had the back plate off waiting to put the Nazgul in and I'm fucking lazy and impatient. Spent the past 30 minutes jamming and it's killer. Gonna have to get one for the neck too. In my PRS I prefer it over the Black Winter that was in there. Still has all the clarity of the BW, maybe even a bit more but it is more like a PAF in how well it cleans up.

Sooooo I woke up to about an inch of water standing in my house this morning - the water line broke under a bathroom sink. It's been a real shit sandwich of a day so far, but at least we have a two story home so all the gear is safe and we have a place to escape the drying fans and dehumidifiers.

Me either. I gave their first album or two a listen, but I can't get on board with any of it.

Balls. I am terrified of this. Related: reconsidering moving my amps from the upstairs bedroom to the basement...
