Re: The Doom Room: ILF Edition
Finally got access to some speakers. Mr Grumpy sounds like a mean sumbitch and Khemmis absolutely fucking rips. Makes my playing and songwriting feel inferior in every way. Going to see Neurosis tonight. Anyone else going?

Sam, you gotta catch them.
I still need to catch up on these Grumpy clips.

Yeah you definitely need to catch Neurosis if you can. So good. Also the rest of the bill is super solid, as well -- although I don't know if The Body are still on it and they were hands down the highlight.

Yeah I can't believe that lineup, it's insane.
Hopefully the incredible reception they got when they toured here last year is enough to get them back down so Sam can actually catch them.
No more conchord moments in touring please, Australian promoters.

I was thinking of dropping it in my RD, but my two other guitars already have P90's, so I don't think I will. You are welcome to try it out and see how you like it. I absolutely loved it when I was using it. If I wasn't too impatient for a new set of humbuckers for the RD, I would drop it in for the meantime. But I'll probably order something in the next few days. Also, I've heard great stuff about those GFS mean 90's, but never cared too much for the clip of the phat cats when I was looking them up. Hmm....
GFS is always an option, I've been consistently impressed at the quality of their pickups. For the price point sure, but just in general. I had a Mean 90 neck pickup a long time ago, but I never installed it in my old SG and eventually traded it to a tech for a setup. Some upcoming weekend when I don't have wall to wall baby birthday parties, you should come over and jam out with the RD. I'm still doing a ton of tone experiments with the new amp and cab, barely scratched the surface so far.
Out of all the clips I've listened to in the past 24 hours, I liked the Gibson P94 the best. The Phat cats didn't impress me on its own in a huge way, but compared to everything else I liked it better. A lot of the clips I heard sounded either too smooth or too kind of "spanky" sounding.

Jesus christ I hate incompetent promoters. Thank god for the good ones in town, but I just had to cancel 2 shows because of this idiot lady who it took too long to realize had no idea what she was doing. Sad face.

So this happened. Was buying some merch when I ran into Aaron at the merch table. Shook his hand and talked with him for a few minutes. I usually don't get all fanboy crazy but I couldn't look metal while trying to take a pic. Sumac, Brothers of the Sonic Cloth and Neurosis were all flawless.

Bolt on?
Mustang looks rad!
Its set neck. Thinly capped mahogany slab body. Bought it from an ILFer after I gave my Fernandes dual P-90 guitar to my brother for his birthday. I kind of stupidly take it apart for project work and let it sit for months at a time, Really sweet guitar. Needs a bridge upgrade badly though, the one on there is a total POS, always messing with sustain cuz the wraparound bend is too harsh. Not as heavy as a Sonex. More of a LP Jr / Melody Maker / Special mashup.
Mustang is rad! No body cut though, it's not as comfortable as a P Bass... Might have to take it back. Kind of need the $ for life. Going to try and sell a guitar and Epi 1x12 first. Get a bridge for the Agile, and maybe a cigar box guitar neck... Pay bills.
Clifton, it' looks like you are getting your picture taken with Odin. And he's not sure if he likes it.

He looks really angry. Like someone stole the jam out of his donut angry. Wondering if that's his normal demeanour.
